April 4, 1990 to March 27, 2007

Fairport Nordic Ski team member Natalie Giambattista died on March 27, 2007 after a brief battle with cancer.

Natalie joined FHS Nordic in the 2005-06 season.

As pictured here, she had just won the team's 2006 Girls Rookie of the Year award. No one knew what was to come.


On March 29, 2007, the Democrat and Chronicle published a wonderful article on Natalie and an obituary.

The April edition of FHS's newspaper, The Lampion, published pictures and tributes to Natalie.

On April 5, 2007, the Perinton-Fairport Post newspaper published an article on Natalie that included a YouTube memorial video created by her father. The YouTube video is available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6juyLeE00Q

On May 21, 2007 a tree was planted in the Memorial Garden at FHS in memory of Natalie. (See the slideshow of the dedication ceremony.)

On June 16, 2007, the Girls Track team sponsored the "Love Like Nat" walk to benefit Dollars for Scholars, a scholarship program for college freshmen. The Democrat and Chronicle carried an announcement of this fundraiser.
